Latest James Bond casting update
Who Is the Next James Bond? Latest Odds and Turner Rumours
Callum Turner is the bookmakers’ new favourite. But has anyone actually been cast? Here is what the latest odds, screen-test reports and studio updates tell us.
James Bond has not been officially cast.
Turner leads the latest reported market, not an announced studio shortlist.
Who is the next James Bond?

No one has been officially announced. As of 4 November 2026, Amazon MGM Studios has not named Daniel Craig’s successor. Callum Turner has become the leading betting favourite after a wave of rumours, while Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor remain prominent names in reports about the casting process.
Favourite does not mean cast. Bookmakers have Turner at 4/7, but Amazon MGM’s own statement says it will share casting news when the time is right.

Snapshot: 3 November, 16:42 GMTThese are William Hill odds reported by Oddschecker on 3 November 2026. The bars represent each price’s implied percentage for visual comparison. They do not represent official casting probabilities.

The rumour, checked
Why is Callum Turner suddenly the favourite?
On 2 November, entertainment writer Roger Friedman wrote on Showbiz411 that the “word on the street” was Turner had landed the part. No named studio source or formal casting announcement accompanied the claim.
The suggestion spread rapidly online. By the following day, Turner’s price had moved to 4/7, having been around 5/4 at the close on 2 November and 3/1 on 23 October. That movement reflects betting interest, not a confirmed studio choice.
Another supposed clue involved a production company set up by Turner and Dua Lipa. But The James Bond Dossier checked the relevant company record and reported that Turner’s resignation was dated 10 December 2025. It was not a new November development.
Turner may be a serious contender. That does not mean a contract, screen-test result or casting decision has been publicly verified.
How the story unfolded
Industry reports link Turner, Lowden and O’Connor to screen tests.
A speculative report claims Turner has been chosen, without naming a source.
Turner’s odds shorten to 4/7 as the claim circulates.
There is still no formal casting announcement from Amazon MGM.
A former 007 weighs in
What has Pierce Brosnan said?
Pierce Brosnan praised Turner in a Vanity Fair interview published on 3 November. The actors worked together on The Only Living Boy in New York (2017), so Brosnan has firsthand experience of Turner’s work.
Brosnan also expressed admiration for the other reported contenders. His comments were an actor’s opinion, not an announcement on behalf of Amazon MGM.
“Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong.”

The leading contenders
The three names at the centre of the Bond race
Industry reporting has associated the following actors with late-October screen tests. Amazon MGM has not publicly confirmed a final shortlist, so these profiles describe reported contenders rather than approved casting choices.
Callum Turner
4/7The London-born actor is the focus of the newest casting rumours. He has experience in big-budget productions, period drama and leading roles, but has not confirmed he is the next Bond.
Known for: Masters of the Air, Fantastic Beasts and The Boys in the Boat.
Jack Lowden
7/2The Scottish actor plays River Cartwright in Slow Horses. He previously led the betting market before Turner’s price shortened and remains one of the main reported test candidates.
Known for: Slow Horses, Dunkirk and Benediction.
Josh O’Connor
8/1The acclaimed actor would bring a more understated, unconventional energy to 007. His involvement in the latest audition reports does not establish that he has been offered the role.
Known for: The Crown, Challengers and God’s Own Country.
Some reports mention a fourth candidate without reliably identifying that person. Names appearing at longer betting odds are not automatically participants in the reported tests.
The film itself
What is confirmed about Bond 26?
Even without a new lead actor, the next Bond film has an established creative team. Amazon MGM’s official update confirms the director, writer and producers.
No Time to Die marks his final film as James Bond.
Amazon MGM takes the lead on the next creative phase of the series.
Amazon MGM confirms the process is underway but declines to discuss individual names.
Trade outlets link Turner, Lowden and O’Connor to the selection process.
Speculation intensifies, but casting remains unannounced.
A possible 2028 release has been discussed in reporting, but no firm theatrical date has been announced.
“Bond 26” is the film’s commonly used working label, not its confirmed title.
How can you tell when Bond is really cast?
As the rumour cycle accelerates, the source of a claim matters more than how widely it is shared.
What counts as confirmation
An identified announcement from Amazon MGM Studios, the film’s producers or an authorised representative confirming the actor taking the role.
What does not count
Changing odds, speculative social media posts, anonymous claims, company filings unrelated to casting or a former Bond actor praising someone.
The bottom line

Callum Turner is the favourite, not the confirmed next James Bond. Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor are also credible reported contenders. The only definitive casting news will come from the studio or people authorised to speak for the production.
