Honest 2026 streaming services reviews
NETFLIX REVIEW
I still find Netflix has the smoothest app experience of the lot. The recommendations are usually spot on for me, though the price hikes this year sting a bit. I love the originals, but they cancel shows too quickly for my liking.
Pros: Best interface, huge variety of genres.
Cons: Expensive Premium tier, aggressive cancellation of new shows.
AMAZON PRIME VIDEO REVIEW
Since I already pay for Prime delivery, this feels like a free bonus. Fallout (season 2) had kept me returning weekly, with it now finished I won't be loading Prime Video as much. However, the interface is still cluttered and finding free content amidst the rentals can be annoying.
Pros: Great value in the bundle, X-Ray feature.
Cons: Cluttered UI, ads in the base tier.
DISNEY+ REVIEW
Having the Marvel and Star Wars libraries in 4K is a treat for my weekends. The addition of general entertainment via Star has definitely kept me subscribed, though I do wish the big original series came out a bit more frequently.
Pros: Incredible back catalogue, high-quality 4K/HDR.
Cons: Slow release schedule for originals, getting pricier.
APPLE TV+ REVIEW
The picture quality here is unmatched in my opinion; the bitrate puts other services to shame. While the library is much smaller, almost every show I've watched has been cinema-quality. It is quality over quantity.
Pros: Superb video/audio quality, high hit rate for originals.
Cons: Small library, no Android phone app.
HBO MAX REVIEW
This is my go-to for prestige drama. Rewatching classics like The Sopranos has been a joy, and the new movies arrive quickly. I did experience some glitches with the app, but the content library makes up for it.
Pros: Top-tier drama series, Warner Bros movies.
Cons: App can be buggy, slightly higher price point.
PEACOCK REVIEW
I appreciate the mix of live sports and comfort TV like The Office. It is a solid secondary service for me, though the 4K support feels very limited compared to the big players.
Pros: Good for sitcom reruns, live sports inclusion.
Cons: 4K is scarce, content rotation is confusing.
PARAMOUNT+ REVIEW
As a Star Trek fan, this is essential for me. I've also found the movie selection surprisingly deep. However, the app can be sluggish on my TV, which is a bit frustrating during a binge.
Pros: Essential for franchise fans, good movie library.
Cons: App performance is laggy, some regions lack 4K.
DISCOVERY+ REVIEW
This is my guilty pleasure for reality TV and documentaries. It is very cheap, which is great, but it lacks the big scripted dramas I usually crave on a Friday night.
Pros: Cheap, massive library of unscripted content.
Cons: No scripted dramas, feels niche. If you have HBO this is essentialy pointless
NOW TV REVIEW
The flexibility of the passes is great for dipping in and out. However, I resent having to pay extra for 'Boost' just to get 1080p picture quality in 2026. It feels very outdated.
Pros: Access to HBO/Sky content, flexible contracts.
Cons: 720p standard is poor, expensive long-term.
